Halfold Boudewyn Introduction
Halford Lovell Boudewyn (b.1921- d. 26 April 1998, Singapore) was a long -serving police officer who risked his life during the Japanese occupation by storing classified documents stolen from the Indian national army, and secretly using an illegal radio for gathering and sharing news about the war which the Japanese censored.
Boudewyn was educated at St Joseph's Institution and his aspiration was to become a police officer.In 1939. he joined the straits settlement police force as a constable and two years later he was posted alor gajah, Malacca as an inspector.This assignment ended when the Japanese invaded Malaya and Singapore in early 1942

that I could be killed. But I tried not to think about what could happen and
just concentrated on what I was doing.
"My job was to smuggle these documents out of the camp and keep them safely until after the war when they were to be used for subsequent war trials."
Although he kept the documents, their vital information were believed to have been sent to the Pacific Allied command through a separate spy channel.

Halfold Boudewyn Contributions
This assignment ended when the Japanese invaded Malaya and Singapore in early 1942. his contributions fail and after that he have many nightmares and he couldn"t sleep well. He smuggle stolen documents of Japanese plans to take control of India. The documents wre important to the british because they provided information about Japanese troops and their weapons and their plans to attack india.
In 1948, he was awarded the Colonial Police Medal by the Governor of Singapore for his contributions.

The four-month invasion began in March 1944 and resulted in the defeat of the Japanese army which was forced to withdraw beyond the Burmese border.
Boudewyn found work with a Eurasian food contractor.. One day while make a delivery, he met a prisoner of war frm the British Indian Army and found out about them being ill-treated by the Subhas Chandra Bose's Japanese backed Indian National Army (INA) , when they refused to join the INA. He strongly wanted to avenge those who have bravely refuse, staying loyal and suffered for it.. His new friend told him that documentary proof could be obtained so both of them decided to gather this evidences.Each day Boudewyn gave a deep bow to the Japanese sentry as he left the camp and his bicycle carrier, where he kept the papers, was never searched. He continued doing this until 1944 until he had all the relevant documents. He then stored it in and oil drum buried under his friend's tennis court
